The South East Cornwall Methodist Circuit is a newly formed group of Methodist Churches and associated projects located on the coast and inland in South East Cornwall, at the border of Devon. The Circuit came together in September 2024 from the former Saltash, Callington and Gunnislake, and Liskeard and Looe Circuits. We partner with churches from other denominations also, and join in and host a range of charities and community groups in various parts of the area. The Circuit is led by the Superintendent, Revd Jonathan Budd, (see the Team page), along with three ordained colleagues, lay officers and a leadership team.

Our Mission Statement (below) sets out what we aim for.

South East Cornwall Methodist Circuit

Mission Statement

In the communities of South East Cornwall our mission together is,

“To witness to God’s love and saving grace in Jesus Christ actively and creatively from within the distinctive traditions and priorities of the Methodist Church.”

To do this we

…follow Our Calling[1] to worship, learn, serve, care and evangelise, and welcome partnership in these things,

…support, assist and encourage the societies and local expressions of church within the Circuit in that same work as shaped by their own contexts[2], and

…seek, continually, God’s renewing in this, our shared life and work.

[1] Definition of Our Calling can be found here: https://www.methodist.org.uk/about-us/the-methodist-church/our-calling/ .

[2] while remaining in step with the priorities of the Circuit, and the wider Methodist Connexion.
